THE community of Somerset East was shocked to learn that three people were murdered in the space of a month.
On August 3, 25-year-old Siyabulelo Mala died after being deceased, allegedly by a 30-year-old man after a verbal disagreement in Suyanqoba Street, Somerset East.
The 30-year-old man was arrested and has made his first court appearance. His next court appearance is set for September 20.
On August 16, 34-year-old Joyce Matroos passed away as a result of multiple stab wounds. Her lifeless body was found lying outside a residence in Ezinyoka village, Somerset East.
On August 25, the lifeless body of a woman covered with a duvet was found in Hospital Street. According to detectives, the body was discovered while police were patrolling the area. Detectives found visible injuries to the victim’s face and ribs.
A 38-year-old man was arrested and is due to make his court appearance in Somerset East soon. – DEONETTE HAGGARD
