THE ABC Motsepe League side Amavarara Football Club has announced their 30-man squad who have travelled to East London to take on the Super Eagles FC in their first ever match of the 2020 Nedbank Cup.

The game will be played at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane, East London on Saturday at 15:00. The 2019 Eastern Cape Nedbank Cup champions have already left for East London where they are preparing for this most important encounter in the history of the club.

The club chairperson, Lusapho Mzwakali, believes the team is ready and is positive about the encounter.

“The team have planned and trained to be competitive for this game and the work the technical team have done and the team spirit to date this year have put us into a good space,” said Mzwakali.

“The cup games are usually decided on penalties but we have a very good squad that has grown into a tight unit over the past few years and we have definitely grown stronger together.

“I’m sure I speak for the squad when I say we cannot wait for the games to begin.”

At the age of 40, veteran striker Bulelani Matross has been included in the squad and is set to play a key role for the Ezibeleni-based side.

“I am confident in my speed and my game at the moment, regardless of how old I am. I know I can still contribute in this environment so we will have to wait and see on Saturday,” said Matross

Matross played for many PSL teams in his career, including Amazulu, Bush Bucks and Bay United. The squad also includes four goalkeepers, led by Mawethu Gwangwa.
