A
30-year-old woman and her friend, 28, were arrested by the Eastern Cape police
following the death of a 3-year-old boy in Sabata Dalindyebo in Komani between 7 and 8 July.
Police
spokesperson, Captain Namhla Mdleleni, said the 30-year-old was the mother of the
boy.
“According to information, police were summoned because of a child who was
found naked in a yard and was already
dead. On arrival they found the body with bruises,” Mdleleni said.
Mdleleni added that a case of murder was being investigated by the Komani police, which was
opened on 12 July. The murder is suspected to have taken place between the two
days.
The
suspects appeared at the Komani Magistrate’s Court on Monday and their case was
postponed to 15 July for formal bail application.
