Komani Uncedo Taxi Services Association secretary, Thamsanqa
‘Doc’ Ngcongca, was shot and killed execution style on Wednesday, August 18.
Following a media query from Komani-Karoo Express, police
spokesperson captain Lariane Jonker confirmed
Ngcongca was shot near his Mbeki Street township home in Nomzamo.
Jonker said police were alerted to the shooting around 21:45 on the day.
“On further investigation 50-year-old Thamsanqa
Ngcongca was found lying in the street with bullet wounds to his upper body.
The taxi owner had died at the scene,” she said.
The motive for the killing is not yet known.
“The
community is requested to report any information to the investigating officer, captain TA Boqwana on 071 352 4540,” Jonker said.
This is not the first incident of a taxi boss slaying in
Komani. Earlier in August the taxi association’s chairman, Sandi Mgobo was killed near his home in
Ezibeleni.
Police confirmed they were also investigating Mgobo’s murder. No
arrests have been made in both cases.
