Suspects Zine Joy Gxulu (35) and Phumeza Pindo (38) were
found guilty and sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment by the Komani Magistrate’s Court on October 1. 

Police spokesperson Captain Namhla Mdleleni
said during 2019 the fraud victim lost her cell phone while she was traveling
in a taxi and a few days later the victim went to draw a bank statement when
she discovered fraudulent transactions done on her bank account. 

“A case of fraud was opened and assigned to Warrant Officer
Marriette Olivier,” said Mdleleni. 

“During April this year two suspects were arrested in the
Western Cape.” 

Mdleleni said both pleaded guilty for fraud and sentenced to
18 years’ imprisonment.
