KOMANI Veterans FC is appealing to compassionate members of the public and businesses to assist them in fundraising to donate Christmas gifts to old age homes and senior citizens as part of their charity initiatives of 2021.
The team is selling raffle tickets (R50) with the winning prize a weekend for two to Crawford’s Beach Lodge in Chintsa.
The package consists of two nights’ sleep, three meals a day, a welcoming champagne, and a couple massage including a fuel voucher of R400.
“We started the club for retired football players, but soon realised that the community we live in have special needs, and we started to partner with people in giving back to this community. We have also realised that the area we live in is not encouraging for the youth to reach their full potential,” said Sicelo Ndara from Komani Veterans.
“We are firm believers that sport teaches self-discipline and self-respect. And as soon as one has respect for oneself then one will have respect for another person.
“We are appealing to the people of Komani and surrounding areas to help us bring a smile to the elderly in old age homes,” said Ndara.
Ndara also confirmed that they have not made the announcement yet on which old age home they will choose this year.
People can buy these tickets at Sasol Garage, Shell Garage, Raider Salon, YOLO Lounge, Vusi’s Tavern, Jonny’s Gym and Tyrese Fitness Centre.
The raffle will be drawn on the 29th of December.
