Police have confirmed that two men were arrested for their alleged involvement in the post office robbery in Church Street, Graaff-Reinet on Saturday, April 2.

According to police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, it is alleged that on Saturday at about 13:00, three armed men targeted a post office in Church Street, Graaff-Reinet.

“At the time of the incident, the business was closed, and employees were about to leave when the three men attacked them,” said Nkohli.

“The suspects managed to steal large amounts of money before fleeing the scene in a white Toyota Quantum.”

Nkohli said a getaway vehicle was flagged and later spotted traveling on the N2 towards Gqeberha.

“Police pulled the vehicle off the road, and the two occupants were nabbed for business robbery,” said Nkohli.

He further said the two men, aged 47 and 57, are due to appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate’s Court.

The vehicle was seized for further investigation.
