Komani’s Valgas Football Club who were relegated to the Komani Zone LFA last season, staged a magnificent comeback to the Chris Hani SAB Regional League this past weekend after spending a few months in the LFA League.
Enoch Mgijima Local Football Association (LFA) hosted the LFA Playoffs on Saturday at Ezibeleni Stadium in Ezibeleni Township with seven teams searching for a spot in the Regional Top Division (SAB Regional League).
Valgas booked a place back in the SAB Regional League after beating Golden Chiefs of Ntabethemba 2-0 in the final.
Other teams that were part of the playoffs from all seven zones of the Enoch Mgijima Local Football Association were Soul Buddies FC (Ezibeleni), Ilinge Aces FC (Ilinge), Dlabantu FC (Machibini), Juventus FC (Sada) and Whittlesea FC (Dongwe).
Enoch Mgijima Local Football Association Secretary Melikhaya Mdingi applauded the club and congratulated Valgas President, Phumelele Hlati.
“This has been one of the most exciting and closely contested seasons in the Enoch Mgijima LFA. The title race in the playoffs was not an easy one even though Valgas won,” said Mdingi.
“At the end of the day, Valgas showed class and deservedly earned their place back in the SAB Regional League. I would like to congratulate the club president, the players, and the technical staff and Valgas supporters in Komani for achieving this feat.”
Hlati was over the moon after his team made a ‘come back’ to the SAB Regional League.
“Getting promoted back to the SAB Regional League months after relegated to the LFAis a great achievement, and something that any club can just achieve so easily. We deserve to play in the Regional League, and I am proud of the team,” said Hlati.
The SAB Regional League is expected to start later this month.
