The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality has informed businesses and residents that the Western Substation in Komani is under investigation after the substation continued to experience intermittent power outages.
According to the municipality, the Western Substation has in the last few days caused constant outages and is now under investigation by the contractor who installed the new transformer to determine the cause.
The transformer and other elements in the substation were recently installed and fall within the liability period (12 months after installation) which gives the contractor a mandatory responsibility to repair faults at the substation.
The contractor has been on site to run tests and the results will be communicated with the municipality and necessary repairs will be made.
