The Intelligence driven operation by members from Amathole and Chris Hani Districts with the assistance from specialised units K9, Flying Squad, and a private security company yielded good results after five suspects were nabbed for possession of stolen property, unlicensed firearms, and ammunition in Komani on February 1, following business robberies in Butterworth and Ngqamakwe.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Namhla Mdleleni, on February 1, SAPS operationalised the intelligence information following business robberies in Butterworth and Ngqamakwe which took place on the same day.
“The information was followed, and a suspicious vehicle, a Ford Figo, was spotted on route N6 traveling towards the East London direction and was cornered and stopped,” said Mdleleni.
She said that five suspects aged between 22 and 35 were arrested in possession of stolen items valued around R120 000, an undisclosed amount of money, and two unlicenced firearms and ammunition.
