The lovely Karoo town of Nxuba (Cradock), will play host to Deon Meyer, Coenie de Villiers and André Schwartz where they will feature at the Schreiner Karoo Writers Festival (SKWF) from June 12 to 15.
On June 12, de Villiers and Schwartz will perform their show, Winterkersfees. The choirs of various schools inNxuba will also perform at the event.
The following day on June 13, Meyer and de Villiers will perform a condensed version of their show, Karoo Suite.
On June 14, various authors, and performers, including David Viviers, Luthando Rasmeni, Ian Sutherland and Izak de Vries, will join Meyer, de Villiers and Schwartz in presenting a series of talks entitled Ideas worth sharing sponsored by The AVBOB Poetry Project.
Alumni from the Access Music Project (AMP) in Makhanda, Bulelani Mfuku, Siyabulela Mfuku and Athenkosi Nelani will also share their stories.
On the same day, De Vries will also interview De Villiers, Meyer, and Schwartz on their artistic journeys to success.
As part of The AVBOB Poetry Project at SKWF 2024, during the two days of workshops, languages and creative arts educators will be unpacking the various avenues of creative flow, looking at the role of focused creative play in unlocking literacy, with Tracey Lloyd and Coenie de Villiers’s Master Class, The Art of Lyric Writing.
On June 15, published authors will participate in discussions on how to execute their dream of writing and finishing a book.
Staff members of Amazwi will be on hand to explain how they assist authors in getting books published.
During the same evening, the power couple from the Karoo, Chris Marais and Julienne du Toit, will do a presentation on their latest travels-to-be-turned-into-a-book, and Melina Smith will host an open mic.
