GQEBERHA – The murder trial of businessman Arnold Terblanche has been remanded again until tomorrow, 12 March.
Terblanche’s legal representatives will state in tomorrow’s appearance whether they want presiding Judge Nyameko Gqamana to recuse himself from the matter, as he had insight into the divorce proceedings between Vicki and Arnold Terblanche.
Court documents indicate that Vicki Terblanche filed for divorce in 2020, ending a marriage that had lasted 14 years since the couple wed in 2006 and shared one child.
The pair resided in an upmarket Gqeberha housing complex called Westview Villas before their divorce.
As previously reported, during the divorce proceedings, Vicki had been seeking R35 000 per month in maintenance and a significant financial settlement from the Gqeberha businessman.
Almost a year later, Vicki was found dead on 18 October 2021 in a shallow grave in Greenbushes, just outside Gqeberha, after being given an overdose of drugs.
Her boyfriend at the time of her murder, Reinhardt Leach, allegedly conspired with her estranged husband Arnold to kill her.

Leach was found guilty in 2025 and revealed that he and Arnold discussed their plan to kill Vicki on 12 October 2021. He was to make it appear as though Vicki had died from a drug overdose to avoid suspicion and help Arnold gain custody of their child.
Additionally, Leach was involved in criminal activities like abalone poaching and drug use.
Meanwhile, Arnold Terblanche has denied all 6 charges against him. Terblanche faces multiple charges related to the Gqeberha mother’s death, including murder and conspiracy to defeat the ends of justice.
Terblanche pleaded not guilty to all charges read out in court.

He faces a minimum of life imprisonment if found guilty of his involvement in his estranged wife’s death.
He was released on R1 million bail after the Makhanda High Court granted his appeal on 9 February 2023.
The matter will resume tomorrow at 09:30 in the Gqeberha High Court.
