Man charged with drug dealing appears in court today

NTABETHEMBA – A 31-year-old suspect allegedly involved in drug dealing and possession of an imitation firearm (toy gun) will appear before Tarkastad Magistrate’s Court today, 26 January 2026.

According to SAPS regional spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, it is alleged that yesterday, 25 January, Ntabethemba police, heeding the call for safer festive season operations, conducted patrols at Mitford Administration Area. “In the process, police reportedly received information about someone dealing drugs from his homestead at Mitford,” she said.

Mgolodela added that police proceeded to the homestead and met the owner, whereupon arrival they requested to conduct a search on the premises.

“Upon searching, members found 11 small bompies of Tik and 8 big bompies of Tik, all weighing 4.5 grams. Loose dagga and 7 bompies weighing 321.5 grams were also found and seized. All the seized drugs have an estimated street cash value of more than R13,400.00.”

The suspect was arrested immediately and is due to appear before Tarkastad Magistrate’s Court today, 26 January.

The District Commissioner, Major General Rudolph Adolph, commends the teams that are committed to sweeping drugs off the streets, as drugs are major contributors to the commission of heinous crimes.
