KOMANI – One person has died while six others sustained injuries when a Toyota SUV lost control and overturned on the R61 road between Komani and Takastad on 20 September.
Eastern Cape Transport Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said that the SUV was travelling from Takastad towards Komani with seven occupants, including a 12-year-old boy.
He said that the SUV lost control and overturned.
“An adult female passenger died instantly while six others sustained various injuries,” said Binqose.
He said that the six injured are three males, two females, and a 12-year-old boy.
Binqose said that they were all taken to Frontier Provincial Hospital in Komani for further medical examination.
“The main cause of the crash is still unknown at this stage. A case of culpable homicide has been opened at Komani SAPS for further investigation,” said Binqose.
