TONNES of animal feed were delivered to farms in the Jansenville district, in an attempt to assist farmers that are experiencing one of the severest droughts in history.
Thanks to a recent 4×4 day held at Eastern Cape Motors in Port Elizabeth, a record amount of R241 043,31 was raised in aid of animal feed for drought-stricken farms in the Karoo.
What started as an idea between 4×4 enthusiasts soon developed into a fun day that was packed with live music, food stalls, 4×4 manoeuvring on a training 4×4 track, lucky draws and activities for the children.
In an effort to assist the farmers that are no longer able to feed their livestock, The Co-op, LA Sport, NATKO, East Cape Motors – Ford, Infanta 4×4, Luister FM, Extreme Terrain Adventures and Algoa Steel all partnered to host this fund-raising 4×4 fun day.
All proceeds will be delivered to farms in the form of hay bales and maize.
With the assistance of Agri Eastern Cape, areas in the Eastern Cape were identified and received the feed.
A load of 34 tonnes of maize was transported to Jansenville and a second load of maize was earmarked for the Somerset East district. – REPORTER
