AS a result of the most severe drought experienced in the Eastern Cape’s history, farmers are battling to feed their animals.

In an effort to assist through fund-raising, Die Koöperasie, LA Sport, NATKO, East Cape Motors – Ford, Infanta 4×4, Luister FM, Extreme Terrain Adventures and Algoa Steel will be hosting a 4×4 Fun Day on Saturday, November 30. The event will start at 09:00 at the East Cape Motors 4×4 Training Track in William Moffett Expressway in Port Elizabeth.

All proceeds will go towards relief in drought-stricken areas, in the form of hay bales and maize.

What started as an idea between 4×4 enthusiasts soon developed into a fun day that promises to be packed with live music, food stalls, 4×4 manoeuvring, lucky draws and activities for the kids; all in aid of animal feed that will be delivered to drought-stricken areas.

With the assistance of Agri Eastern Cape, areas in the Eastern Cape were identified and will receive the feed.

Drivers can practise their skills with their own vehicles at a cost of R150, or drive the new Ford Ranger.

Children and adults will be able to bottle feed lambs and calves, while there will be food stalls and live music to entertain the whole family.

Major prizes are up for grabs with lucky draws and a big auction scheduled for the early afternoon. Various outdoor, camping, 4×4 items and even a borehole drilling voucher are some of the prizes the public can walk away with.
