KOMANI: A 37-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing a fellow farm worker over an alleged affair appeared in the Komani Magistrate’s Court on 31 March.
According to police spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, it is alleged that the suspect stabbed the 31-year-old victim on 30 March at Weldon Farm Estate, following accusations that the victim was having an affair with the suspect’s wife.
“The altercation reportedly began on 29 March and escalated the following morning when the suspect allegedly attacked the victim as he was on his way to fetch cattle from the veld for milking,” said Mgolodela.
She said that the victim died at the scene.
Mgolodela said that the suspect was arrested, leading to his appearance in the Komani Magistrate’s Court.
She said that the matter was remanded to 7 April for a formal bail application.
The District Commissioner, Major General Rudolph Adolph, has strongly condemned the act and affirmed that justice will prevail.
