A 40-year-old man was arrested after Cape Town Metro Police uncovered drugs worth more than R300 000 during an operation in Bellville on Saturday.
The Metro Police K9 Unit acted on information about drugs allegedly being stored at a premises in the area on Friday 15 August.
During the operation, officers searched a vehicle, and K9 Virus alerted officers to something hidden beneath the front passenger seat.
Officers subsequently discovered cocaine, tik and Mandrax.
According to reports, the haul included 1 023 units of cocaine, 500 Mandrax tablets and 12 packets containing tik.
Cash was also recovered during the operation.
The City estimated the street value of the drugs at more than R300 000.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Bellville police station.
The operation comes amid continued efforts by City enforcement agencies to target drug dealing and trafficking across Cape Town.
The case will now be investigated further following the seizure.
