A free year-round junior coaching programme is teeing up children aged nine to 16 for success – both on the fairway and beyond.

At Kleinmond Golf Club, junior golf is about far more than learning to swing a club. According to the club, the philosophy is simple: juniors don’t just take lessons – they have fun, follow a clear pathway to improvement, and develop the confidence, performance and character needed to grow as both players and people.

The club’s year-round coaching programme is open to beginner golfers aged 9 to 16 and covers every aspect of the game. Training includes putting, the short game, ball striking, driving, specialty shots, on-course strategy, fitness, equipment knowledge and the mental game – a comprehensive curriculum designed to help young players find their talent and steadily level up their skills.But the mission, the club stresses, goes well beyond golf.

Through structured coaching and mentorship, juniors develop honesty, responsibility, confidence, organisation and resilience – qualities that serve them as much off the course as on it.

The programme is offered free of charge, with all equipment supplied by the club, removing the financial barrier that often keeps children out of the sport.

Sessions take place every Monday afternoon, making it an accessible after-school activity for families in Kleinmond and the broader Overstrand area.
