The Provincial Police Taxi Violence Unit is investigating the murder of a woman gunned down in her driveway last week.
Captain Fadila September, spokesperson for Hermanus police, said a shooting incident in Tebele Street, Zwelihle was reported at approximately 20:00 on Thursday 17 August.
“The Hermanus police found a woman’s body with multiple gun-shot wounds in a Nissan Navara.
“She was declared dead at the scene. The motive is being investigated. No arrests have been made,” said September.
Archie Klaas, an Overberg District Municipality councillor, described Lungiswa Magade’s death as a tragedy.
He added: “Ironically, she was head of the Overstrand Taxi Association delegation to support families whenever a taxi owner passes away. Now OTA must support her family.”
In a separate incident on Monday 14 August, Hermanus police were called to the scene of a shooting in Kuyasa Street at approximately 22:20.
“The police officials found a man, identified as Thembelani Boyisi, lying in a pool of blood with three gunshot wounds to his body,” September said. “The motive for the shooting is yet unknown.”
