Misty Mountains Estate on the R43 between Stanford and Hermanus has perfected the recipe that will make patrons want to linger longer and return for more.

Double gold award-winning wines, a gastronomic experience offering anything from tripe and wood-fired pizza to juicy steaks and lobster, craft gin, craft beers as well as brandy and vodka crafted at the estate, and a relaxing seating area in front of warm flickering flames all contribute to the perfect ambience for an unforgettable dining experience.

“Dining should be a complete experience – the ambience of the restaurant, the presentation as well as the flavours and aroma of the food all contribute to this,” said José who manages the restaurant and farm stall.

“Simplicity and value-for-money are key,” he said. “We strive to put smiles on our diners’ faces. If someone asks for a little bit more of one of our traditional dishes, we will gladly do so because it means they enjoyed it and that is the biggest compliment.”

José is clearly very passionate about providing customers with the best dining experience.

The menu boasts a variety of Mozambican dishes such as flame-grilled chicken, Caril de Camarão (Goan style prawn curry) and Carne Alentejana (pork and clam stew casserole). Also on the menu are platters such as the Misty Mountain Platter with a whole chicken, Queen Prawns, Calamari and two side dishes that offer diners “the best of both worlds”.

One of the restaurant’s most popular signature dishes, José said, is the panfried prawns.

Those who want to eat on the go can stop at the Misty Mountains Farm Stall for tasty prego or boerie rolls, roosterbrood with a variety of fillings, canned sardines, imported olive oil and a number of other locally produced products.

The restaurant is open seven days a week, from 08:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and from 08:00 to 21:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. They also offer Sunday lunches. The farm stall is open seven days a week from 08:00 to 16:00.
