Sandbaai residents, especially the kids, can look forward to a fresh “new-look” playground as work has begun to upgrade the play space at Meent Street. Overstrand Municipality started to plant trees to beautify the grounds and all current equipment was removed. It will be replaced with new swings, slides, a jungle gym and stepping posts. The municipality gave the assurance that the playground will not extend into the fynbos area. “Changes for the park,” said Overstrand Municipal Manager Dean O’Neill, “were discussed at a number of ward-committee meetings. The upgrade of the park is also in the 2023-’24 IDP and included in the provisional 2024-’25 budget as part of the Ward 7 ward specific projects that is open for public comment. It is trusted that the upgrade will revitalise the area into a fun destination for families.”
