A shop-owner is recovering in hospital after being shot during an armed robbery.


The Hermanus police are investigating charges of attempted murder and business robbery after a small-business owner from Zwelihle was wounded during an armed robbery.

On Friday 12 April at 20:30, the police responded to a report of a man who had been admitted to the Hermanus Hospital with a gunshot wound.

Sergeant Abigail Naidoo, spokesperson for the Overberg police District, reported that the officials were informed that the victim had been brought to the hospital in a private vehicle.

“The victim had sustained a bullet wound to the stomach and had to be transferred to Worcester Hospital due to the severity of his injury,” she stated.

The two unknown assailants reportedly fled the crime scene with an undisclosed amount of money and are still at large.

“No arrests have been made. The investigation continues.”
