The police are requesting the public’s assistance after a hitchhiker was robbed on the N2 between Somerset West and Grabouw.
Police reports state the incident occurred on Friday 17 March, at 15:50, when a man on the roadside seeking a lift to Grabouw managed to get a white Mercedes-Benz to stop. The driver told him he was heading in that direction too.
“Three males then threatened the victim and robbed him of his money, cellphone and clothes,” said Sergeant Suzan Jantjies, spokesperson for Somerset West police. “No arrests have been made.”
The police asks anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Detective Sergeant Wayne Henderson on 021 850 1302.
“This is the fourth incident currently under investigation.”
