A 52-year old suspect was arrested after a large amount of drugs was allegedly found in is possession.


The Napier Police dealt drug dealing a huge blow when they confiscated more than 1 000 Mandrax tablets over the weekend.

Sergeant Ivan Davids, spokesperson for the Napier Police, reported that the crime prevention unit (CPU) members were busy conducting a special operation on Friday 15 September at about 18:45 when they received information about a taxi transporting drugs from Caledon to Napier.

“The taxi was spotted and stopped. When the members searched the vehicle, they discovered 1 010 mandrax tablets with an estimated value of R 40 000. A 52-year old man was arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs,” said Davids.

The suspect, who was one of five passengers in the vehicle, appeared in the Bredasdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday 18 September. The outcome of his court appearance wasn’t yet known at the time of going to print.
