Ronel Bezuidenhout has been appointed the Department of Health and Wellness’s new District Director in the Overberg.


The Western Cape Government Health and Wellness in the Overberg has welcomed Ronel Bezuidenhout as the new District Director of the Overberg as of 1 May.

Bringing a wealth of experience to her new role, having dedicated her career to rural health care, her journey began in the Central Karoo, later moving to the Boland Overberg Region, where she coordinated Maternal, Child and Women’s Health programmes until 2004. Subsequently, she contributed to Youth and Adolescent Health research at WITTS Health Consortium, where after she became the Regional and later the Provincial Manager for the LoveLife NGO in the Western Cape

In 2011, Bezuidenhout returned to the public-health sector as the CBS manager in the Cape Winelands District. Her dedication continued when she assumed the role of Assistant Manager: Nursing at Brewelskloof TB Hospital. In September 2017 she joined Worcester Regional Hospital as the Head of Nursing, where she was instrumental in enhancing patient care and nursing services.

She is a Registered Professional Nurse with a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Leadership. Currently, she is pursuing a Master of Public Health qualification with a focus on Disaster Management and Non-Communicable Diseases. She is also a mentor to Oliver Tambo Fellowship [OTF] Post Graduate Health Leadership students at UCT.
