It was a dream came true for Shane Sauvage and his wife Janet.

On 27 April 2012 Chef Shane and Janet opened the doors of LaPentola Hermanus with its spectacular 180° view of Walker Bay.

To mark its 12th birthday they decided on planning a complete revamp of the restaurant and kitchen, to enhance the enjoyment of the LaPentola experience for both patrons and staff.

“Planning began in January with designers and artisans to bring a new face to LaPentola,” said Shane, “without losing its individual eclectic character and warmth, for which the restaurant is famous for, in a way that best complements the delicious fusion cuisine served to both local and international guests.”

He said the dining room has been upgraded with a beautiful, locally-produced abalone tiled floor, fresh funky look, plush upholstery, a state-of-the-art sound system, an acoustic ceiling for sound absorption and designer lighting, all to enrich the overall dining experience.

“The kitchen and bar have new floors, new equipment and the space has grown in size by a third to facilitate events, groups and my goal for culinary excellence,” Shane stated.

Even the bathrooms have new life with the ladies and gents each being given their own individual look and fun theme to add to the hospitality the venue has to offer.

Shane and Janet both insisted on using only local companies and artisans to ensure every bit of their investment went back into the local economy, which has shown LaPentola such loyalty and support since its inception.

“It is with a lot of gratitude and thanks that LaPentola at the Hermanus Waterfront is proud to say it is open and ready to share the fresh, exciting new space with you for at least 12 glorious years,” Shane declared.
