L2L walkers do it again

The first group of participants in the 2023 Lighthouse 2 Lighthouse charity walk set off early on Thursday 9 March from the Agulhas Lighthouse. This year’s funds will go to the Izibusiso Home for Abandoned Babies in Zwelihle. The only registered foster home for babies in the area has cared for 143 children since 2009. The 58 participants collected goodies donated by Food Lovers Market, The Beanery, Hermanus Toyota, Sorbet, Refine, Pain Clinic, Crazylicious Cookies, Hermanus Factory Shop and Mardene le Roux Wines the day before setting off on their walk from the Agulhas Lighthouse to Danger Point Lighthouse in Gansbaai. They also received fish-and-chip vouchers from Ocean Basket, water from Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty Hermanus and special tags from Izibusiso Home. Since 2006 L2L has raised more than R5 million. The walkers arrived on Grotto Beach on Sunday afternoon. The 20th L2L walk will take place 20-23 April, preceded by fundraising practise walks. Donations can be made until the end of April.
