The Overberg Artistic Gymnasts Team recently competed at the Western Cape Gymnastics Championships that were held in Saldanha from 21 to 23 July. A total of 860 gymnasts throughout the Western Cape qualified for this major event. Madelein Wrigley, Gym Genies’ owner and coach, reports that the local gymnasts excelled at the event, bringing home three gold, six silver and three bronze medals. Behind (from left) are the Level 3 competitors: Liné Koekemoer (bronze), Anlia Sprong (silver), Hellen Hearing (silver), Lily Ann Fivaz (bronze), Heilie-Miré Gerber (silver), Bella Coetzer (silver) and coach Lisa Rossouw. In the front row are the Level 2 gymnasts Sofia Hough (silver), Zanne Buys (silver), Adah Gibbings (bronze), Mickayla Lotter (gold), Everly Coetzer (gold), Rachel da Silva (gold) and coaches Kate Lynne Hanekom and Madelein Wrigley.
