The Overberg Community Trust held it’s 22nd annual general meeting at the Tsogo Sun Caledon (Caledon Casino Hotel, Spa & Entertainment) on Saturday 8 June.

An overview of the past year as well as the way forward was given by Patty Edwards, chairperson of the Trust.

“The year under review had bumps in the road but also many great moments,” she said.

Edwards expressed her gratitude to the board, executive and employees of the Trust for their unwavering dedication and contribution.

“I am immensely grateful to be part of The Overberg Community Trust. May we continue to be a force to be reckoned with and bring much-needed hope and light into the lives of those in need in the Overberg region. A truly amazing team is hard to find, difficult to part with and impossible to forget.”

General secretary of the Trust Connell Balie, in his report, gave an overview of the past year.

The Trust Deed, planning and training sessions and allocation of funds paid were of the items discussed by Balie.

Balie said that the Trust once again made a tangible difference in the lives of ordinary members of various Overberg communities.

“We thank God for giving us the strength and wisdom to build a Community Trust with such a wonderfully clean and sound corporate record,” he said.

Toni Linde, representing the auditors, gave a detailed and insightful overview of the Trust’s finances and commended it for its sound financial practices.In 2024 it assisted with the following financial aid:. 41 bursary recipients were awarded financial assistance to the value of R318 350;. 13 families received Disaster Relief funds to the value of R52 117,27;. 31 applicants (various institutions and individuals) were assisted with donations amounting to R254 618,74;. 28 entrepreneurs in the Overberg communities received financial assistance to the value R314 578,09.
