From 20 – 23 September the Great Southern BioBlitz (GSB) 2024 event will take place in the Southern Hemisphere.
This initiative is an intensive biological survey aimed at documenting living species during the spring season via the free iNaturalist application or website (www.iNaturalist.org).
“Join Team Overstrand BioBlitzing and upload your photos to the iNaturalist platform. As usual, participants will have 14 days after the event to upload and identify all the records made during the event,” Dean O’Neill, Municipal Manager, said.
Cllr Clinton Lerm, Overstrand Mayco Member for Infrastructure Services and Planning and Development, encourages residents to follow Overstrand BioBlitzing on Facebook or join the WhatsApp group (send a request on WhatsApp to Magriet Brink at 072 921 1757).
“Let’s showcase our local biodiversity by photographing plants, birds, insects, reptiles, marine life,” he said.
