Police arrested four suspects in separate incidents in and around Hermanus recently, on charges relating to the possession of stolen property.

“These arrests were made possible thanks to excellent cooperation among Hermanus police, local armed-response agencies and the public safety officers deployed by Hermanus Public Protection,” said Marius Boshoff, Hermanus branch manager for Fidelity ADT. “HPP is supported by Fidelity ADT. Hermanus has a winning team on duty to protect the town and its people, and I request that residents give their cooperation with efforts to drive crime from the area.”

On 19 June a suspect was detained after a CCTV camera operator saw him walking up and down Still Street. The suspect was later found in possession of a gas bottle, which he had allegedly stolen from an address in the area.

“On 22 June, the public safety officers of HPP were alerted to a suspect wanted in connection with the theft of a bicycle the day before,” said Boshoff. “The alleged suspect was soon identified in the CBD and detained.”

Late in the evening on 23 June two suspects were detained in Sandbaai when a CCTV operator at HPP saw them walk through the area carrying a large object with them. The Hermanus police later searched the men and found one knife as well as two tins of paint, which they suspected were stolen.

“Please contact the police or HPP immediately if you see any suspicious activity in your suburb,” Boshoff said.
