They are passionate about their sport and dedicated to promoting this sport to all.

According to the Cape Winelands Bodyboarding Team mission statement, bodyboarding isn’t just a sport, but “a movement, a testament to the resilience and spirit of our youth”.

It added: “We’ve cultivated an environment that nurtures talent, fosters growth and instils a sense of belonging.”

On Friday they announced the team that will represent the entire community at the National South African Championships that is going to be held in Port Alfred from 23 to 28 September. The team is: Marc Webster (Pro), Luke Staniforth (Pro), Teegan Coulonval (Pro), Jamie Bischoff (Pro), Tiaan Hoeben (Pro), Victor Holloway (Pro), Liam Profitt (Junior), Pieter Malan (Junior), Gaspard Camille (Junior), Luca Potgieter (Junior), Tony Martins (Junior), Henre du Plessis (Junior), Thomas Hen (Boys), Roland Jack (Men), Werner Joubert (Men), Hugo Lambrechts (Masters), Pieter Janse van Rensburg (Masters), Lezandre Joubert (Ladies), Liam Profitt (Dropknee), Riaan du Preez (Grand Masters), Caleb Esterhuizen (Devlopment), Eduart Kleinloog (Development), Leah Esterhuizen (Development) and Zian Jansen van Rensburg (Development).

As with any other sport, finances play a big role in promoting the sport among underprivileged people.

“The financial burden of transportation, accommodation, meals, and competition attire weighs heavily on our team,” they explained in a press release. “That’s why we’re reaching out to partners seeking their support to ensure our athletes have the means to pursue their dreams.”

By sponsoring the Cape Winelands Bodyboarding Team, they explained, people are investing in the future of young athletes and contributing to their personal growth and development.

“The support will enable us to expand our Development Riders Programme to underprivileged communities, providing mentorship and opportunities for youth to excel in bodyboarding.”
