Music lovers are in for a sophisticated treat as the Hermanus Music Society presents an intimate chamber music concert featuring the exceptional talents of clarinetist Féroll-Jon Davids and pianist Nina Schumann.
The concert, scheduled for 30 January at the Gereformeerde Church in Bergsig Street, Sandbaai, promises an evening of classical refinement beginning at 18:30, with registration and pre-concert refreshments from 17:45.The carefully curated programme showcases three distinctive works spanning different musical periods. The evening opens with Johannes Brahms’ beloved “Clarinet Sonata No 2”, a masterpiece of late Romantic chamber music that highlights the clarinet’s lyrical capabilities. The performers will then present Gerald Finzi’s charming “5 Bagatelles” for clarinet and piano, before concluding with Joseph Horovitz’s vibrant “Sonatina for Clarinet and Piano”.
Adding a sophisticated touch to the musical experience, the Hermanus Music Society has partnered with Gabrielskloof Wine Estate to provide perfectly paired wines for the evening. Guests will enjoy the estate’s 2025 Synonym Chenin Blanc and 2023 Syrah, creating a harmonious blend of musical and viticultural artistry.
