SANCCOB is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO 003-134) with a primary objective to reverse the decline of seabird populations through the rescue, rehabilitation and release of ill, injured, abandoned and oiled seabirds, especially endangered species such as the African penguin. SANCCOB and BirdLife SouthAfrica, with the support of ocean conservation charity BlueMarine, are urging the South African government to take immediate action and establish effective no-take zones to protect the birds. The organisations have launched an OnlyOne petition https://only.one/act/save-african-penguins, to garner greater support for the cause.
