He is only in Grade 3, but this learner from Curro Hermanus has shown he has nerves of steel.
Bramwell Whitehouse’s sporting talents know no bounds. This 9-year-old recently competed in the under-11 category at the Biathle/Triathle World Champs that took place in Egypt.
“It was a special opportunity for the South African athletes to compete internationally and represent their country,” the spokesperson of Curro Hermanus said.
Four days and six events that combined sea swimming, beach running and shooting in sweltering heat made it tough-going for the athletes. However, Bramwell is a tough guy and he performed outstandingly.
He’s like a fish in water, and that’s also one of the reasons he performed so well at the World Champs. He is a swimmer for the Curro Hermanus Aquatics Club and performs just as well in the swimming pool.
At the Biathle/Triathle World Champs in Egypt he finished in the Top 10 in all his individual events and his relay teams finished in the top three in three different events.
A summary of Bram’s results are:. Biathle Individual: eighth;. Triathle Individual: 10th;. Triathle mix relay: third;. Biathle team: second;. Triathle team: second.
“Well done to Bram the Man,” the school said. “He is a small guy with a big engine and will certainly achieve great things in the future. Wow, what an amazing achievement, we are so proud of you Bram.”
