Botrivier resident and author Barbara Townsend is a natural storyteller, passionate about creative writing.
Both her novels Ida’s Line (Hermanus Times 25 November 2020 “For the ‘forgotten’”) and Out of Mind (Hermanus Times 14 December 2022 “Local writer launches her second novel”) are set in historical times and required many years of meticulous research.
Townsend self-published both novels, which obviously required her to do all the launches for the books as well. Her 30th, and final, launch was held at the Caledon Library on 25 April where Hermanus Times correspondent Mitzi Buys interviewed Townsend about the two novels. Townsend spoke about the inspiration for both novels, her writing process as well as her self-publishing journey. After the conversation, guests were invited to address questions about the novels to Townsend.
Townsend kindly donated a copy of both books to the Caledon Library. The books can be ordered from www.teapotpublishing.co.za
