Overstrand Municipality recently launched the Collab Citizen App aimed at assisting customers – individuals as well as businesses – to log and track service requests and keep track of important municipal notifications.

The municipality stated that this app will assist with resolving issues raised by businesses in a timely and cost-effective way and will provide information that can lead to improvements in service delivery.

“The amount of red tape and bureaucracy faced by business when dealing with government is considered a key constraint to economic development and growth,” Overstrand Municipal Manager Dean O’Neill stated.

The Overstrand Collab Citizen App gives access to users to:. Log service requests;. Log and track service requests;. Read all the latest news in the area;. Read service disruption notifications;. Find emergency contact numbers;. Choose which channels to subscribe to depending on interests and location.

Overstrand Municipality has provided some answers to questions users might have about the app. QUESTION 1: Is my information secure?

All information captured on the Citizen app is transferred and accessible only by the authorised Overstrand municipal officials.QUESTION 2: Can I follow up on a service request I logged?

You can use the “Comments” field on your service request to send the municipality a message. You can use this to follow up on your service request or provide the municipality with additional information.QUESTION 3: When is a service request closed?

A service request is only closed when the work has been done, regardless of the process followed and on which service system it is registered, once receive via the Citizen App.QUESTION 4: Do I get a reference number?

When you log a service request on the Citizen App, you will receive a reference number once the request has been assigned to the relevant department.QUESTION 5: Spam

The municipality makes use of CAPTCHA to prevent automated software (Robots/bots) and spammers from performing actions on your behalf.QUESTION 6: Accuracy of pin (location)

The Collab Citizen application was developed by Business Engineering. The development and support provided by Business Engineering is done within the existing contract with the Overstrand Municipality for correspondence related services.

The application is fully integrated into the existing service processes for enquiries received by clients across various platforms.QUESTION 8: What is the budget amount allocated to this?

The budget has been absorbed into the existing SLA between the Overstrand Municipality and Business Engineering, no additional cost added.
