Wonderbag recently hosted a community initiative in the Overberg region, where their amazing product, the Carbon Wonderbag, was available to purchase at an incredibly subsidised price of R50.

This drive was part of Wonderbag’s vision to give communities the opportunity to own this product that enables them to cook without or with less power.

The outreach took place on 21 February at the Stanford community hall, in Hermanus, in Zwelihle and at the Stanford Hotel on 25 February. What is a Wonderbag?

Handmade in South Africa, the Wonderbag is a simple, but revolutionary, non-electric slow cooker.

The Wonderbag is a kind of pillow that is put around pots and vessels. It saves the heat of previously short-heated dishes for cooking again without the extra energy consumption.

After bringing a pot of food to the boil and placing it in a Wonderbag, the food will continue cooking for up to eight hours without any additional energy source.

Wonderbag helps in many ways by providing a way to cook at very low cost, even during load shedding.

It reduces the use of firewood, gas or electricity, thereby saving you money.

It is handmade and helps to reduce the carbon impact.

It also helps save time, as you can do something else while your food slowly cooks in the Wonderbag.

A Wonderbag not only cooks food, but keeps it cold too. The temperature retention of a Wonderbag works both ways – boiling hot or frozen cold.
