Thousands of visitors are expected to flock to the Overberg for the December holidays. While most holidaymakers intend spending a large part of their time soaking up the sun or cooling off in the waves, there are countless other activities to cater for everyone’s taste and needs. Art lovers can visit the numerous art galleries offering local artists’ work and those who want to enjoy the best the Overberg has to offer can head off to local restaurants, venues and wine estates offering award-winning wines, local cheeses and other delicacies. Each town in the Overberg also boasts its own unique market where vendors sell everything from handmade crafts to home-baked treats, jams, knitted or crocheted items and much more. Adrenaline junkies can also choose to try their hand at kite-surfing, zip-lining or head into the hills to explore some of the best cycling routes. Visitors can also look forward to a number of exciting events, such as the Trans Agulhas Challenge which has been dubbed the ‘World’s Toughest Inflatable Boat Challenge’ that starts on 28 December in Plettenberg Bay and finishes at Gordon’s Bay four days later after making stops at various beaches along the coastline.Photo: Jacobus Germishuys
