Beyond Black Mountain (BBM), a local tourism, information and conservation organisation, has launched an exciting photography contest called “Out of the ordinary extraordinary Overberg”.
It was initiated by Lindsay Madden of Heilfontein Country Escape, Tesselaarsdal who, after a recent visit to Japan, was inspired by its farming methods and the way these were portrayed in photos as well as by Die Caledonner’s local street photography.
Lizël Kimber of BBM said: “We invite the community to show us how it sees the area or their towns.
“The competition will run for the whole of August, and we are very pleased that on the first day it already had a good response, with several entrants sending in multiple entries.”
Kimber said BBM was thinking of possibly producing a 2024 calendar with 12 of the top photos.
It would also like to exhibit the top three photos at its offices in Meul Street and possibly also at the Secret Garden Art in the Park, which will be held later on this year at the Caledon Wildflower Garden.
A R1 000 prize is up for grabs for the winner. Entries can be mailed to beyondblackmountain @gmail.com
