Motorists are advised of systematic road closures in Hermanus due to road construction and upgrades that started on Monday.
“The road closures will start on Monday 26 February and will last until 19 April, if all goes according to plan,” the Overstrand Municipal manager, Dean O’Neill, said. “The partial road closures are scheduled to take place around the new Massbuild Retail/Builders Express building at the old Circus ground in Hermanus.”
According to him motorists can expect moving equipment, road workers and road narrowing at any given time on the following roads: R43 Hermanus Main Road, Mimosa Street, Mountain Drive, Mussel Road and De Goede Street.
“The closures may need to be adjusted depending on weather conditions on the day. Detours have been identified. Overstrand Traffic officials and road marshals may be deployed to monitor and manage traffic and ensure minimal disruptions,” he said.
Overstrand Municipality warns that these partial closures may result in disruptions to the normal travel times for motorists, resulting in delays.
“Motorists are advised to plan their trips accordingly, consider the recommended alternative routes and practise caution when using the roads,” O’Neill said.
