Overstrand Municipality’s law-enforcement officers served a staggering 1 329 summonses for traffic violations across the region during the first two weeks of April 2024.
In addition, 14 individuals were arrested, and one person was sentenced to imprisonment for three months for bylaw-related offences.
The municipality is committed to upholding bylaws and ensuring the safety and security of the community.
“We encourage all individuals to drive safely and responsibly and obey traffic rules and bylaws,” said Deputy Mayor Lindile Ntsabo and the Mayco Member responsible for Protection Services.
“By taking proactive steps to address any summonses received we can all contribute to improving road safety and fostering a culture of compliance with regulations.”
Payments for summons can be made through various methods, such as online payment, or you can do so in person at designated municipal cashiers.

Patrons are encouraged to take full advantage of this period to return all overdue books. Residents are encouraged to visit their nearest library to find out about different services on offer.
