Golf Course Should Not Be Despoiled: A resolution concerning the proposed new main road through Hermanus was passed at the last committee meeting of the Hermanus Publicity Association held at the Marine Hotel. Mr J. H. S. Withycombe presided.

Mr. E. C. Colbeck felt that emphasis should be laid on the old-world charm of Hermanus and the tendency to destroy this charm by the construction of wide roads and ugly electric signs and advertising should be deplored. After discussion the following resolution was passed unanimously, and the Secretary was instructed to forward a copy thereof to the Town Clerk:

. The Association should oppose any development which tends to detract from the old-world atmosphere which is the heritage of Hermanus.

. The golf course is one of the first attractions at Hermanus and should not be despoiled. It is hoped that in the planning of the town, nothing will be done to detract from this atmosphere in relation to the Golf Course and other amenities of Hermanus.

. The Association feels that coloured electric signs on business premises have endangered the rural atmosphere and the money so expended would be better applied to collective publicity through the Association in attracting visitors to Hermanus during the quiet months of May to September, rather than in individual competition.
