The goal of Walker Bay Orchid Society members is to share their knowledge of orchids, to curb the stereotype that “orchids are difficult to grow” and share the beauty of orchids with the public.

This is why the society was established in 1994 in the Sandbaai and Hermanus area by a group of enthusiasts.

“This year the society is 30 years old, which is a marvellous achievement and a testament to the captivating nature of orchids,” one of the members said.

“An orchid show will be held to celebrate our 30 years and we really hope you will join in the celebration and visit the show.”

Orchids will also be on sale for those who want to increase their collection or who would like to start the amazing journey of growing orchids. The show will be held on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 August at the St Peter’s Anglican church hall in Main Road, Hermanus.
