Altogether 15 kickboxers of the Legacy Martial Arts Academy (LMAA) in Hermanus participated in the Western Cape Championships held in Saldanha from 20-21 September. The fighters bagged medals and qualified for the Western Cape team that will compete at the SA Kickboxing Championship held in Newcastle in April 2025. In the back row are Chelene Kreusch (3 gold), Dylan Isaacs (2 silver), Alexander Jansen van Vuuren (2 silver and bronze), Jason de Bruyn (2 silver), Lyle Asari (silver and bronze), Shihan Ruehan van Romburgh (3 gold) and James Banwell (3 gold). Front: Emma Asary (2 silver), Sam Bloch (silver and bronze), Zak Bloch (gold and 2 silver), Werner Enslin-Roux (2 gold and 1 silver), Namika Pieterse (gold and silver) and Alexander du Toit (gold and 2 silver). Aidan Brummer (gold, silver and bronze) and Mason Brummer (2 silver) were absent when the photo was taken. Shihan Ruehan van Romburgh, LMAA coach, confirmed that Zaanru Fraser, Zius and Leyla Brand and Qvaro van der Westhuizen will also be part of the regional team competing at next year’s championship, bringing the total of LMAA fighters to compete at the event to 19.
