Babette Roosenschoon

Join the Hermanus Music Society for a special performance titled Herstory, featuring the long-time duo partners Babette Roosenschoon on cello and Esthea Kruger on piano.

This captivating Romantic recital featuring works by female composers Ethel Smyth and Clara Schuman as well as music by Johannes Brahms, will be complemented by a special wine pairing, featuring De Wet Cellar’s 2024 Leyland Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon and delectable canapés.

The programme will interweave rich melodies that highlight the expressive power of the cello with intricate piano textures, offering a fresh perspective on the Romantic era. The audience can look forward to hearing Sonata in A minor, op. 5 by Ethel Smyth, Sonata in E minor, op. 38 composed by Johannes Brahms and Clara Schumann’s Three Romances, op. 22.

The performance by these two beautiful and talented musicians is on Friday 26 September at the Gereformeerde Church in Bergsig Street, Sandbaai. Registration is from 17:45. Wine and canapés will also be served from 17:45 before the performance starts at 18:30.
