PRIME MINISTER HAVING QUIET HOLIDAY: The Prime Minister, Dr. D.F. Malan, with Mrs. Malan and their family spent a quiet Christmas in their Hermanus home. With the responsibilities of the coming Parliamentary session soon upon him, the Prime Minister is having a quiet, restful holiday and, where possible, is only seeing very intimate friends.
The Prime Minister and Mrs. Malan attended divine service at the Dutch Reformed Church on Christmas day.. NEW GUNS FOR HERMANUS: Two captured Italian guns each weighing 7½ tons are to be sent from Pretoria to replace those at present on the War Memorial. It is now felt that these guns are so large that they will dwarf the memorial and it has been suggested that they be placed in front of the proposed new B.E.S.L. Club House and Memorial Hall.
