Council proposes meeting with ratepayers executive – public opinion also to be tested: At a special meeting of the Hermanus Town Council held on Monday, the Town Clerk was instructed to delay sending a letter to the Provincial Administration declining to accept the loan of £25,000 for a new main road until after the Town Council had arranged a meeting with the Executive Committee of the Hermanus Ratepayers Association when alternative routes for the proposed road would be laid before the Ratepayers Executive for consideration.

It was further decided that subsequent to this meeting a public meeting of all ratepayers would be called so that the position might be fully explained to them. Spence that the Council’s resolution taken on October 24th relative to the £25,000 loan for the Proposed New Main Road be revoked and that the loan be accepted. The matter was postponed at Cr. Spence’s request. The meeting opened with the reading of the motion put forward by Cr. R. M. Spence “that the Council’s resolution taken on the 24th October 1949, relative to the Loan £25,000 for the proposed New Main Road be revoked.
