New municipal offices: £11,000 expenditure

A meeting of Hermanus ratepayers was scheduled to take place last night to authorise an expenditure of £11,000 for a new project to house the municipal staff. The Provincial Administration originally authorised a loan of £17,000 for the building of new municipal offices for Hermanus but the Building Controller would not allow the Council to build the entire building required. What they would authorise to be built was too small for the staff. Consequently, a new suggestion was put forward to purchase a property in Main Street where the Westcott Mineral Water Factory was originally situated. This project will cost about £11,000.
